Client Journal - Anoxic Brain Injury - Child
Allan G., FL [06-2010 / Anoxic brain injury - comatose, inflexible]
Allan is a 3 ½ year old boy who suffered anoxic brain injury due to a near [dry] drowning accident on May 17th 2007. He currently remains in a coma and depends on a breathing ventilator, feeding tube, as well as 24 hour care. He is extremely restricted from normal day to day activities due to his condition and one of the only ways by which we guide ourselves is through a pulse sox machine which monitors his heart rate and oxygen saturation level.
On Wednesday June 23rd 2010, Allan was introduced to BioEnergy Healing Therapy which was conducted by his Domančić Method practitioners.
Day 1 - During his first therapy, Allan remained stable even though his heart rate was a little higher than normal. This was his way of letting us know that he was aware of the changes in his surrounding due to the fact that there were two new visitors at home. The first thing we noticed as soon as the session was over was just how relaxed his body was. He had never reached this type of muscle relaxation in the last 3 years and never before were we able to open his hands or apply range of motion in his upper or lower extremities so easily.
Day 2 - By the next day his heart rate stayed at a normal level and he still had maintained his muscles completely relaxed from the previous day. We also noticed that by just looking at him you could see a different tone in his skin which was always really tight and gave you the idea of his body being swollen.
Day 3 - On the third day we noticed how his veins started to show around the area underneath his wrists and in his arms. Due to his bed bound condition, his veins had become visually inaccessible so much to the point that in the last 2 years we have not been able to perform any type of blood work or have an IV line placed at the time of his Botox procedures. Each time there was an attempt accessing a vein; it was either lost or popped and there were at least more than 4 attempts with the so called best nurses or doctors which were usually those who work in the neonatal units of the hospital which are accustomed to work with babies with tiny veins but at the end of each try had no luck with Allan.
Day 4 - The last day of therapy came and Allan still maintained all the changes that came upon the three previous days. At the time of therapy he was very alert and awake due to a bit of commotion we were having at the house during a soccer game match. His heart rate was a bit high but as soon as Jill and Geoff started to work on him he completely relaxed and his heart rate came down to its regular level.
We are extremely happy and grateful with the results that the BioEnergy Healing Therapies have brought upon Allan. We have been able to do range of motion exercises in the past three days with very little difficulty, his legs are beginning to flex much easier at knee point and he feels much lighter as well. Two family members who visit on a daily basis noticed the change in him within just seconds of looking at him and amazed on how relaxed and flexed his body is. Allan has gained full benefit from these therapies and we look forward to continue with his BioEnergy Healing thanks to Jill and Geoffrey.
Allan G - 2nd session July 20th – July 23rd
It’s been 24 days from Allan’s 1st therapy session. He has still maintained the flexibility he gained from his initial therapy and the puffiness in his whole body has gone away completely, as if he has drained all of the fluid he was retaining.
Allan has gotten accustomed to the therapy routine and now encounters total relaxation while the session is in progress. His heart rate, which we monitor through the pulse ox machine, will progressively go down from the 115’s (his regular HRPM) into the lower 80's during therapy.
With this 2nd session, the improvement that we have seen is that he has regained his knee bone structure and now you can actually see his knees that were not defined before, due to the puffiness in his body. Also there are more visual veins at this time throughout his body.
Without us saying anything family friends that have come to visit have commented that he looks much more relaxed and looks as if he has lost weight, [he still remains at 36 lbs] but it is basically what he has accomplished thanks to the BioEnergy Healing up until now.
Allan G - 3rd session August 11th- August 14th 2010
By this time, I can definitely confirm that Allan has regained part of his flexibility. It’s been over 2 months since his first session and he has kept it. From this point on, I know that he is not going back.
I have been observing and monitoring his digestive system, mainly his bowel movements. He has been prescribed, over the course of 2 ½ years, daily doses of prune juice (4oz) and MiraLax in order to help him on a regular basis. From the very first session, I noticed that he would have more frequent [bowel] movements and his routine had changed. I opted to stop what he had been prescribed on July 30th, 2010 and confirm the changes that I noticed in him. It has been over a month now, and he is having his bowel movements regularly everyday without any stimulants. This is something that I can certainly say is part of the BioEnergy Healing he has been receiving.
From this particular session we have also observed a change in Allan’s heart rate levels. They are as follows:
Normal day (without stress)…….125-130 beats per minute (BPM)
Normal Day (with stress)…..140-150 BPM
Normal Day (without Stress)…..110-120 BPM
Normal Day (with Stress)…..130-140 BPM
This is a big improvement that we will continue to observe, since we were told by his cardiologist that for a child his age, under regular conditions, his heart rate levels should be between 70's-90’s.
During these last 3 months there have been noticeable improvements in Allan’s condition. To us, everything he has gained from his BioEnergy sessions is big progress after three years. In only 3 months, we have seen great improvement.
Allan G - 4th session August 31st- September 3rd 2010
The changes/improvements in Allan from the previous three sessions still maintain. This time around, his Domančić Method practitioners did additional sessions from long distance, in order to reinforce the regular in-person therapies. My Mom has returned after being away for 3 months. She is one of the 4 persons who interact with and take care of Allan on a regular basis. I had mentioned to her that he was receiving the BioEnergy therapy and that there have been great improvements. She immediately noticed the changes in him, from how the puffiness in his whole body had gone away completely, just like if he had drained all the fluid he was retaining, to how relaxed and flexible his body is. She also noticed how much more aware he is of the changes in his surroundings, as well as the improvement in his alertness.
On the other hand, we visited his Pediatric Rehabilitation Specialist, after 10 months. She was very happy with Allan’s current condition, so much so that she did not schedule him for the regular Botox injections she would perform on him, usually every 6 months. She would inject Botox in the nerves of his upper or lower extremities in order to block the neural impulses to the muscles in the injected area. As a result, the muscles would relax. Muscles spasms and involuntary contractions of the muscles would no longer occur. The [injection] process was not at all pleasant for Allan, since in all 3 times that he received the Botox injections, he could not be sedated, as would other patients, due to the fact that they could not place an IV line in him to administer the anesthesia. The puffiness made it impossible to find his veins. As soon as the doctor saw how relaxed he was, I told her about the BioEnergy therapies and she was very open-minded. She just said to me to continue doing what you’re doing, because something seems to be working!
Allan G - 5th, 6th & 7th session September 29th, November 20th & December 20th, 2010
Through these past 3 months, Allan has been stable and continues to show the positive changes, that have been occurring ever since he began the BioEnergy sessions. As time progresses, he seems to be more and more aware of what's going on in his surroundings. It is not something easy to describe, but for all of us that are around him on a day-to-day basis, we are able to see the changes in his facial expression and body movements, as he tries to communicate with us regardless of what the doctors might say or think.
Every Friday, he receives Homebound School Classes with a speech pathologist and a Teacher who come and spend an hour with him. They will stimulate him and use different types of sound and motion programs during class time. They will prompt him in order to receive a response through different hand triggers that will activate once he responds when instructed. Their feedback so far this school year is that he is more responsive this time around than last year. Allan seems to be responding on command when instructed to move his hand or press the button on the control that is placed in his hand. His responses are on command and continuous for at least 4 times.
Allan came down with a cold on the first day of his 7th session. Due to his dependency on a ventilator and in his condition, a simple cold can be very complicated for him. One of the main things is that his heart rate will rise significantly due to the congestion in his chest. This was the case when his Domančić practitioners arrived. His heart rate was in the 170's, and by the time they finished that evening, they were able to relax him and bring his heart rate down to the 120 - 130 range. By night time, he spent the night under his regular rate. He seems to be recuperating much faster this time that with previous colds. Today is the 4th day and with only 3 doses necessary of the antibiotic that is usually administered, there has not been that need of suctioning his breathing tube more than twice during the day. His heart rate and oxygen saturation have been regular and stable.
